Electronic dance music act Köppö’s journey began in 2020 at a New Year’s afterparty, where a spur-of-the-moment decision to ask for a gig landed me a spot at an event scheduled for February. With less than two months to compose an hour of material and design a live setup from scratch, Köppö delivered a transformative set that saw the dance floor grow from 4 people to 100 by 6am. This experience set the tone for Köppö’s musical journey, combining raw creativity with meticulous preparation.
Over the years, Köppö’s sound has continually evolved, growing in depth and range, while my live set has expanded to include modular synthesiser, saxophone and a drum machine. Köppö’s music has become a staple in Finland’s underground scene and burner community, with standout performances at the official burning man regional event Helsinki Decompression and an electrifying reception at Borderland in Sweden.
