The Masterplan

Role: Sound Designer & Composer
Set in the thrilling world of 1970s heists, The Masterplan by Shark Punch Games immerses players in high-stakes sneaking and adrenaline-fueled action. As the lead sound designer and composer, I created a dynamic audio experience to bring the game’s retro vibe and suspenseful gameplay to life.
The music, heavily inspired by 1970s funk, was recorded in a music studio with professional musicians to capture the authentic grooves and energy of the era. I led the sound design and composed the majority of the music, shaping the game’s distinctive sonic identity. Jukka Åkerman contributed his expertise in mixing and mastering, elevating the overall quality and cohesion of both the soundtrack and sound design. He also composed some of the tracks, and we ultimately chose to share credit for both music and sound design.
The result was a dynamic score that adapted to the game’s tension: the music exuded a cool, subdued groove, subtly heightening the anticipation of a perfect heist. When the action intensified, the music ramped up in energy, matching the chaos of plans gone awry. The sound design further deepened the experience, from the subtle clink of lockpicks to the heart-racing alarms of a heist gone bad. Together, the soundscape and music created a seamless and immersive experience that was widely praised by players.
Even nine years after its release, the music continues to resonate with fans. One player recently shared that they’ve set the game’s theme song as their ringtone—a testament to the lasting impression of the score.
